Guesthouse

Built from volcanic tufo stones in the 1800s, Casa Melangolo hides in a garden of lemons and olive trees, with iconic views over mount Vesuvius and the bay of Naples.Located in the quiet hillside area of Priora, just 6 km from Sorrento, the Casa is accessible via a small road originally built by the Romans to connect Sorrento with nearby towns.

Arriving at Casa Melangolo brings an immediate sense of tranquillity. It really is a sanctuary to relax and disconnect from the bustling city life. Come and slow down, immersing yourself in the stunning natural surroundings of the Casa.

Casa Melangolo spans 450 sqm divided into four separate living areas. The surrounding house grounds include a large lemon grove, olive trees, local and exotic fruit trees, and an organic vegetable garden. There is an outdoor kitchen and pergolato with a large dining table and stunning sea views, a wood-fired pizza oven, two swimming pools, an indoor kitchen in the old canteen, a sauna, and a small but well-equipped gym. The owners live and work on the property, welcoming visitors into the other casas. Winston, Abby, and Marvel are our sweet and friendly four legged guardians and will make sure you feel right at home :)

The restoration

Much like the surrounding Roman alleys and historic towns, the Casa feels like a secret gem steeped in history and tradition. We sought to highlight its essence through a meticulous restoration process with the help of local artisans and using refurbished materials, along with vintage and second-hand pieces. Both indoor and outdoor spaces have been restored back to their original glory, with the aim to create a tranquil space where simplicity meets sustainability, minimalism, and design.

Story of the logo

“The emblematic figures representing Casa Melangolo are the Hesperides. In Greek mythology, they were melodious maidens, custodians of a garden blessed with trees yielding golden apples, a gift from Gaea to Hera on her union with Zeus. In our portrayal, the Hesperides gather underneath the lemon tree, engaged in joyful dancing and singing. They represent an ethos of shared nourishment, creative expression, and the free exchange of dreams and ideas. This encapsulates the essence of Casa Melangolo: fostering a vibrant community of visitors whose collective vitality will permeate the Casa with life.
